When we design infrared heaters for the bathroom, we’re chasing a specific feeling: that instant, cozy warmth the second you step out of the shower. But there’s a catch. Most industrial IR lamps are blinding. They’ve got this harsh, stadium-style glare that you definitely don’t want in your home—especially if you’ve got a baby in the house. Nobody wants a light that strains the eyes while they’re trying to relax. The trick to the light Standard lamps throw out a wide range of light, including the kind of UV rays and blue light that can be pretty aggressive. To fix that, we use special coatings on the quartz glass. Think of it like a filter. It blocks out the harsh stuff but lets the deep, warming infrared rays slide right through. We aim for a specific range (700nm to 2500nm) so the heat hits your skin, but the light stays soft and mellow. You get all the warmth without feeling like you’re standing under a spotlight. What’s under the hood Inside, we use halogen-filled quartz tubes. We love halogen because it lets the filament run hotter, which means the heater gets to work faster. Usually, it’s warm in under three seconds. And since this is for a bathroom, we can’t just use any materials. Everything is built to handle steam and moisture. We use reflectors that don’t corrode, which helps bounce the heat downward so you’re covered from head to toe. The balancing act Here’s the honest part: there’s always a trade-off. Every time we add a coating to the glass to soften the light, we lose a tiny bit of heat. It’s a small price to pay for eye safety, but it means we have to be careful. We can’t just crank up the wattage to make up for it, or we’d risk frying the internal wiring or burning out the sockets. It’s all about finding that sweet spot—enough power to keep you warm, but not so much that the fixture gives up the ghost.
