Making Your Patio Warm (and Smart)
We built our infrared heaters to take a beating. When we talk about an “IP55 rating,” all that really means is that the casing is tough enough to keep out dust and handle a decent splash of rain or wind-blown grit. You can mount these on your patio and actually relax, knowing a sudden drizzle isn’t going to fry the electronics.
Heat That Actually Hits You
Most heaters try to warm up the air around you. The problem? On a breezy night, that warm air just blows away. These units work differently. They use short-wave infrared radiation, which means the heat goes straight to your skin, your clothes, and your furniture. It doesn’t waste time heating the atmosphere. The second you flip the switch, you feel it. It’s like stepping into a patch of sunlight in the middle of January.
Getting it to Work With Your Phone
Nobody wants to walk across a cold deck to flip a manual switch. To make these “smart,” we basically put a high-tech middleman between the heater and the power source. We use a heavy-duty relay or a Smart contactor that talks to your Zigbee or Matter network. Once that’s set up, your smart hub just tells the relay to snap shut, and the heat kicks in. You can trigger it from your couch with an app or just tell your voice assistant to turn the patio on before you even open the back door.
A Quick Warning on Power
Here is the catch: these things pull a lot of juice. If you’re planning to line a big terrace with a few of these, don’t just plug them into a standard wall outlet. You’ll trip your breakers in minutes. If your setup is going over 3kW, do yourself a favor and run dedicated lines. It keeps the power steady and ensures you’re actually getting the heat you paid for, rather than a lukewarm glow.
