
Why we stopped making “permanent” outdoor heaters
Let’s be honest: the outdoors is a nightmare for electronics. Between the humidity, the dust, and the wild temperature swings, outdoor infrared heaters take a beating. Eventually, a heating element is going to burn out. It happens. But here is the problem. Most of the time, when a tube dies five years in, you’re stuck ripping the entire chassis off the wall just to fix one part. It’s a mess. We decided that was a stupid way to do things. So, we built our IP65 units with a modular setup instead.
The “Swap and Go” Logic
Usually, to keep a heater waterproof, manufacturers seal the element deep inside the housing. It basically becomes a permanent part of the machine. If it breaks, the whole thing is trash. We did it differently. Our design uses a detachable module. You can pull the heating element and the wiring out as one single block. The best part? You don’t have to mess with the primary weather seal of the main enclosure to do it. You aren’t fumbling with internal gaskets or gooey silicone seals in the middle of a parking lot. You just swap the module, bolt it back in, and you’re done.What used to be a four-hour teardown is now a fifteen-minute job.
The Trade-off: Sealing vs. Access
Now, making something easy to open while keeping it waterproof (IP65) is a tricky balance. To make this work, we use heavy-duty compression seals where the module meets the body. There is one catch, though. You have to make sure those locking bolts are tightened properly. If you’re too loose with the wrench during a replacement, you’ll lose that seal. And trust me, you don’t want a rainstorm shorting out your circuit because a bolt was halfway loose.

If you’re managing a facility, this changes your inventory. You don’t need to keep a warehouse full of entire replacement heaters. Just stock the modules. We use standardized connectors, so the new tube just drops right into the existing footprint. No rewiring. No soldering. No headaches. Just a quick mechanical swap that gets the heat back on before anyone even notices it was off.
