Most factory heaters just blow hot air around, but radiant ceiling panels are different. They send heat straight down to the people and equipment, kind of like how the sun feels on your skin. But let’s be honest: flipping manual switches all day is a pain. That’s why we hook them up to a smart system. It turns the whole thing from a “dumb” heater into something that actually thinks for itself. How we get it working To get that “one-tap” feeling where you can switch from winter to spring settings instantly, we connect the power side of the heater to a smart relay or a PLC. Basically, a tiny low-voltage signal tells a heavy-duty switch to kick in. This means you can fire up the shop from an app on your phone or a central dashboard without walking across the warehouse. And here’s a pro tip: we use PID controllers. Instead of the heater just slamming “on” and “off” (which kills your equipment over time), the system gently dials the power up and down. It’s much smoother. The “Brain” of the Operation A remote switch is cool, but it’s not really “smart” unless it knows what’s happening on the floor. We install IR sensors or temperature probes on the ceiling to act as the eyes. If the temperature near the floor dips below 18°C, the system just ramps up the heat. No one has to complain that it’s freezing in the corner. Plus, you can set a timer. Imagine the shop floor being perfectly warm 30 minutes before the first shift walks in. No more shivering while you wait for the air to warm up. A Few Things to Watch Out For Now, you can’t just plug everything in and hope for the best. If you trigger ten 3kW panels at the exact same second, you’re going to pop a breaker. It’s a huge power spike. We fix this by staggering the start-up in the software—basically, the heaters wake up one by one. One last thing: sensors need a clear view. If you stack a bunch of pallets right under a sensor, the system can’t “see” the heat bouncing back. It’ll think the room is still freezing and just keep cranking the heat, which is a waste of money. Keep those sensors clear, and you’re golden.
